ROYALTY SOAPIE FOUNDATION
Honouring our African Roots
The Royalty Soapie Foundation (RSF) is the Royalty Soapie Awards’ social responsibility programme. It guides and supports young people’s career aspirations in the performing arts and creative industries. The Foundation has given meaning to the Awards, as the focus now extends beyond the glitz and glamour of one night into a long-term social responsibility programme. The RSF aims to bridge the gap of access to and information about careers and opportunities in the performing arts and creative industry through the establishment of the Acting Industry Skills Development Programme (AISDP).
Our goal is to take South African Soapies to the world and to introduce first world thinking to the South African industry. We upskill and empower the future leaders of the industry, so that they may carry this impressive legacy forward into the next generation. If we empower our people, they will affect positive change in our communities and in our economies.
OTHER INITIATIVES
High school students often miss out on their final year high school celebration – their Matric Dance, because they cannot afford the required attire. The RSF has a ‘Matric Dance Dress & Suit Donation Programme’. Here, used evening gowns and suits are collected from celebrities and donated to less fortunate matric students for their matric dances. Many such deserving youth are orphaned and vulnerable. The foundation, where possible, also responds to other causes that it believes resonate with its values of supporting young people from indigent communities.
